Equi-Rain Irrigation Systems

How it all started

Equi-Rain was established as a response to a common problem in the equine industry: Riding in a dust cloud indoor/covered arena. On the other hand, who wants the tedious and time consuming job of dragging the hose out and spending countless hours spraying the surface that only results in inconsistent and slippery footing. This was the problem that David Frey was determined to solve. With his background in building, maintaining, and managing sport surfaces, he  generated an overhead irrigation system that was easy to put together, simple and quick to use, cost effective, and most importantly made consistent damp footing – with no wet spots. Initially it was a system that he installed in his indoor arena for his wife and son to use, but quickly came to the idea of selling them through his Field Specialties company.

With the demand for Irrigation Systems, it was decided to create its own  venture. Since its creation We have had Irrigation Systems operating since 1989, with little to no service.

At Equi-Rain we are committed to developing a professional approach towards designing a quality product that is afforable.  We strive to provide personal service and sound advice to our valued customers.



Vance Frey:

Vance has been around horses since he was born. He has competed in eventing through the levels since he was 10. Vance graduated from the University of South Florida in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in business management. Throughout the years he has spent extensive time working for his father's business, Field Specialties. Through the combination of riding on equestrian surfaces and building those surfaces, he recognized the need for well irrigated surfaces to improve performance.

Krystle Dahmer: 

Krystle has over 15 years experince with horses. She has competed in Hunters, Jumpers, and Eventing. Krystle graduated from the Lake Erie College in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science double majoring in Equine Teacher/Trainer and Facilities Management.

David Frey:

David is the founder and president of Field Specialties, which is renouned for its expertise in the renovation, design and construction of all types of athletic fields including equestrian arenas. Since its start in 1989 Field Specialties has grown and has become more involved in the equine world. 

David not only has the knowlege of field construction, but he has been involved with horses and the farm community all his life. He has competed in some Rodeos, Steeplechasing, and Eventing. His family is still involved in Eventing and competes at all levels. David has served as a board member, course designer, and official of the U.S.E.A.
